Strawberry Jam opened for business in August of 1973, the store name having been chosen over a bottle of fine wine. New Hope at that time had two doctor's offices on Main street, a pharmacy, one grocery run by the Mayor and his family, and a photo shop. The post office on Bridge Street was an easy walk and where town gossip was exchanged. The local bank was at the intersection of Bridge and Main. It was there that we got our business loan of $10,000 on a handshake.
Thirty-three years later, as we launch this website the above mentioned businesses are long gone and the bank has had multiple name changes. What has not changed, we hope, is the ambience of our store and our commitment to bringing you the best of whatever we have for sale. For all of you who have been with us these many years, we thank you and we welcome all our new web customers.
Sincerely, Bruce, Estella, and Megan |
